ALASTAIR HAARHOFF

Owner & CEO Armed with a B.Comm degree from
Stellenbosch University, Alastair headed straight into
the world of finance. But after a brief introduction to the
creative industry and its unique problem-solving ability,
he was hooked. With a passion for entrepreneurship and
creativity, Alastair has been at the helm of Just Design
for over 20 years – expanding the business across South
Africa and into London.

He has worked across a broad portfolio of leading global
liquor and tobacco brands, and has co-founded partner
agencies Epic Lion and Innovatr.

With his focus firmly on the future, Alastair continues to
follow his dream of building Just Design into a global
industry leader that helps clients to build the successful
brands of tomorrow.

CARLA KILIAN

Carla’s early years revolved around the sun, sea and sand
in her hometown of PE, where she completed a B.Comm
degree in Business Management. But it was her love for the
creative world that kickstarted her career in advertising.


With 3 years spent in London, working on a major brand
migration across Western Europe for British American
Tobacco, Carla returned home to work for Network BBDO
before joining Just Design a couple of years later.


She oversees our Jhb client portfolio and effortlessly
switches between the demands and intricacies of both
local and global clients, making her a valued leader and
advisor to both clients and staff.

With 21 years’ experience in the industry, Thel is a designer, thinker and innovator, with a passion for packaging.
Having several awards behind her name, she places great
emphasis on shaping packaging design as a specialist
industry in South Africa.

She lends her experienced hand to the creation of some of
the most iconic mainstream and craft brands on our local
shelves: Amarula, Bain’s, Lanzerac, Drostdy-Hof, Savanna, Hunter’s, Caribia, Three Ships, Vital, Fruitree, Dalkeith
wine…and the list goes on.

Her philosophy that good thinking leads to great design
carries through into all that she does.

Thinus is very much the Bruce Wayne of the agency. As one
would expect from anyone who holds a B.Comm (Hons) in
Management Accounting, he is meticulous, detailed and
introverted. But then there is also the Batman side, that
sees Thinus playing guitar and singing in front of crowds
of people.

The majority of his career has been spent at Just Design,
where he enjoys interacting with the creatives, and trying
to exude patience with SARS and debtors.

degree at Michigan State University. Upon return to SA,
she added an advertising diploma from Vega to her arsenal,
and jumped straight into the creative industry. Her career
reads like a wish list, with experience in all of the leading
agencies, and with brands like Audi, Nedbank, Toyota,
Samsung, Mc Donald’s, Merc, and many others.

Having worked extensively across all disciplines from ATL
and BTL, to branding, only one remained: packaging. She
has finally found her perfect fit at Just Design, and still
doesn’t approach anything in a conventional way.
